Petition for Grade Appeal
This petition is a respectful appeal for a change in my course grade from a B- to a B+. The bases of my appeal is threefold: (1) I did submit the required Peer Review Evaluation, (2) I did complete the Industry Analysis Template despite considerable disadvantages, and (3) the numerical average of my Industry Template score and Peer Evaluation is an 83, which is within the B+ range.
More particularly, I was accepted for enrollment in the class after missing the first four weeks of the course and I made every conceivable effort to satisfy the course requirements despite that additional difficulty. Whereas the rest of the class had the advantage of working in collaborative groups, I had no such opportunity and had to complete the same projects alone. I submitted the Market Analysis Template on time even before joining my eventual working group. The rest of the class had the benefit of working collaboratively on that assignment. Unfortunately, I erroneously submitted the Peer Evaluation under the Reflection Paper assignment, but otherwise on time.
I never missed a single class since being accepted for enrollment and I managed to fulfill all of the course requirements despite the additional difficulty of working alone on projects that were clearly designed and intended to be completed in a collaborative group setting. Nevertheless, I managed to achieve an average score of 83 based on the core components of the assignments on the basis of which course grades depended. Given the disadvantages of the late start I had in the class which deprived me of the opportunity to collaborate with my classmates in the manner required by the material, it seems unfair to refuse to consider that substantial disadvantage in quantifying my performance. In light of the tremendous significance of this curse grade to my hopes of timely graduation and the consequences of the refusal to consider my unique situation, I would very respectfully request reconsideration for the reasons outlined in this petition.
Respectfully,
Betty Chan
